I wanted to go Pushkar for a long time now, So this one weekend I was free, I packed my bags and caught the next Bus to Ajmer. Pushkar is 13Kms from Ajmer. Pushkar, also known as Tirtharaj is situated beside the famous Pushkar Lake.
For Pushkar I took a low floor Bus, It goes in every 10 minutes from Roadways Bus stand of Ajmer. It was monsoon time, so I sat back and enjoyed the ride. Bus stops near Gurudwara in Pushkar, So my first place to visit was Gurudwara Singh Sabha. It was built at the beginning of 19th century to commemorate the visit of two famous Gurus – Guru Gobind Singh and Guru Nanak Dev. It is a beautiful double storey white building. This place is serene.
Next was to go through colourful lanes of Pushkar market, paying a visit to different temples, followed by having delicious local food of Pushkar.

Rangji Temple
This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is exclusive as here you can find the influence of South Indian, Rajput and Mughal style of architecture. The temple is one of the most popular tourist destinations in this part of the country where followers come to pray and give homage to the deities of the temple.

Bramha Temple
Brahma Temple is the only temple that is dedicated to Lord Brahma in India. It is located near Pushkar lake. Being the only temple of Lord Brahma in the country, the divine place holds a great amount of significance. Lord Brahma is one amongst the trinity of Hindu Gods, the other being Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. Your tour will definitely be incomplete without visiting this temple. Cameras are not allowed inside.
Ropeway to Savitri Mata Temple
Savitri temple, which enshrines wife of Lord Brahma named Savitri, is built on top of a hill in Pushkar. A flight of stairs leads to the temple which is also a point to catch the top view of the beautiful Pushkar lake and its surroundings. And now there is a ropeway to go up there and enjoy the view. It stops in the middle for 30 seconds to look around and to give you chills. Ropeway fee is Rs.90 per person.
Camel Cart Safari
If you are new to Rajasthan, then definitely try a camel ride. The safari offers an opportunity to the tourists to enjoy life in the shimmering glory of the desert sand. Pushkar is known for its camel festival, organised every year in the month of November.

Pushkar Ghats
One of the places I was really looking forward to, was Pushkar ghats. It is the major tourist attraction in Pushkar. Gau Ghat is the main entrance. The charming lake amidst the hills has fifty-two bathing ghats. A peaceful scene that can be witnessed every day all around the lake. The sacred Pushkar Lake is believed to have been created by the falling of a lotus from the hand of Lord Brahma. It is therefore considered to be as old as creation itself. It is certainly one of the most worshipped spots. I could sit there all day, it was so peaceful, despite people all around.
Halwayi Gali
Next on my itinerary was to have delicious local cuisine. I went to Halwayi Gali to have famous mal puye. It was so damn delicious. I had it with Rabri and Mirchi vada. And I still cannot forget its taste. Do try it when you are in Pushkar.
Pushkar Markets
One thing you have to agree with me, you cannot leave Pushkar without shopping. There is something for everyone. You can shop for souvenirs, jewellery, embroidered fabrics, bags, Rajasthani puppets and printed clothes, and there are several bohemian style shops as well because a large number of foreign tourists come here. You can buy these items from the Sarafa Bazaar, Bada Bazaar or Kedalganj Bazaar.

Maharana Pratap Statue
This statue is built very recently. Unveiled by the Honourable Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Mrs Vasundhara Raje. It is situated in the Pushkar Ghati. The view of whole Ajmer looks majestic from this place. Stop by here on your way to Pushkar.
Pushkar is one of the favourite tourist destinations in Rajasthan and now I know why. It is also one of the oldest cities of India. And it isn’t difficult to fall in love with Pushkar’s tranquillity, its spiritual ambience, it’s winding and colourful lanes. Go there and experience yourself.
